Life is a Story

book1

Have you ever tried to figure out why things happen? What the bigger picture is? Whats the ending going to be like?

Life is like a story, a story that began so long ago. We are in the middle. We have ideas of what the ending looks like, but we will never really know until we get there.

It’s like opening a book in the middle and hoping to understand the whole story. We can’t do this.

But we know how the story started, this is what the Bible is for. It tells us all about the beginning, it also helps us understand the present, and gives us hope for the future.

God is the author of life, he knows what’s on the next page before we get there. We just need to trust Him a bit more instead of trying to write our own story. He has the perfect ending for us.

How Far Would We Go?

The Bible is filled with people who were obedient and followed God to the end. Some suffered greatly and were even killed for their faith.

Many people today are still being persecuted because they love Jesus.

I have often wondered what I would do if I was persecuted for my faith. How would I react? How far would I go for God?

Will stand strong and be bold? Or would I turn and run as soon as things get tough?

I don’t know what I would do if I was in that situation, But I do know that I should be making the most of the time I have now. I should be spending more time reading and immersing myself in God’s Word, growing my faith and trust in Him.

I can’t know what will happen in the future, but I know what I need to do now to be prepared for what ever storms that will come my way.

Malachi 3

Mountain31Just some things that jumped off the page at me, while reading Malachi 3

We need to be refined.

This is how metal is refined: The raw metal is heated and melted by fire. The impurities rise to the surface and are removed. This now pure metal is moulded into what is was meant for.

We are like raw metal. We need to be refined by God. After being refined, God shapes us into the people he wants us to be.

This process maybe painful, but when God is finished with us, we are new, we are refined, we have been purified.

I am the LORD, and I do not change.   Malachi 3:6

God is constant. He is Faithful. He is trustworthy. He is stable. He is our rock.

Malachi 2

Mountain21

Here are two verses from Malachi 2 that I felt that I needed to share with you:

Verse 5: We are priests. We have a responsibility to follow God. To be true to His word, to live a life that honours Him.

We are supposed to share our knowledge and love of Christ with everyone.

But how can we do this if our lives don’t reflect Him?

We need to change our attitudes and belief that just being a Christian is enough, we need to live like Christians too!

“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”  1 Peter 2:9

Verse 10: We, as Christians, have something in common. We have the same father, we are family!

If this is true, why do we fight so much? Why is there so little love and grace between us?

Our bond should be far greater than blood, race or gender. Our love for Christ and the fact that He is our father should be an unbreakable glue that binds us together.

Show Him Some RESPECT!

Malachi 1: Here God is angry with the people because they aren’t giving Him the respect that He deserves. They are only serving Him and loving Him half-heartedly.

If someone popular or in a high-powered position asked us to do something, would we be willing and eager to please them?

What about giving gifts? Would we not give our best to them?

Yet how is our hearts and attitudes when serving God? Is it a chore? Even giving of our time is done with moaning and grumbling.

We would give and do so much more for a mere human than we would for our awesome God. I think we often forget just how much he has done for us. We need a real wake-up call.

Lets show God some respect and serve Him with our all, Lets give Him our best.

From Pain to Peace through Prayer

I was reading 1 Samuel 9-18 and was inspired to write this:

Pray when something is causing you pain, stress or fear. Be actively praying. Don’t sit back and hope that it just goes away. Go before God, open your heart you to Him, pour it all out.

Talk with someone. Find a friend, pastor or someone you trust to share your heart with. Sometimes we just need to get it out, to voice our feelings.

Trust God. You can rely on Him. Trust that He will help you overcome, that He will be with you through this time, comforting and guiding you.

When we trust God, we have a peace that can only come from Him.

Remember that God is always ready to talk with you, from your joys to your pains.

Be ready to open your heart to Him.

peace
