Year’s End

2017_in_review.0

It’s the end of 2017!!! Congratulations for making it this far!

This year has been a real journey for me. Filled with many ups and downs.

Highlights:

  • I was baptised
  • I turned 21
  • I got a lemon tree
  • I cut my hair off
  • I have become more confident
  • I have learnt so many life lessons
  • I met awesome people!

One of the biggest changes that happened this year was my heart and my attitude toward God and His Word. I discovered that if you soften and open your heart up to Him you learn so much about yourself and about Him. It has become such a joy to read His word and to just spend time talking to Him. He has just become so much more real to me.

I am so excited to see what awesome adventures He has planned for me!

I hope all of you have a terrific new year! May God fill your year with love and laughter!

Be open to His love and you will discover amazing new life-changing things!

Duck On The Waves

Psalms 121 is such an awesome psalm. It makes me feel so safe and protected.

God never sleeps. He is always watching over us, even when we feel like a helpless duckling, that has been thrown into a wild and stormy sea. We are so aware of those giant waves that we forget that God is right with us. He is ALWAYS there!!! We are just sometimes blinded by what’s going on around us.

Next time life gets stormy, stop trying to swim out, just open your Bible and have a chat with God. Life will seem less scary, and although its still storming, it’s no longer terrifying.

You are NEVER alone, God’s got you!

Joy. Prayer. Thanks

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
#1 ALWAYS be joyful
#2 NEVER stop praying
#3 Be thankful in ALL circumstances!

True joy comes from God. We are always focus on the bad things that happen in our lives, but forget about all the good that God has done for us. Next time life feels like its falling apart, stop and remember what God has done. You will be amazed of how many blessing He has given you!

When  its hard to remember, the best thing to do is talk to God, ask Him to remind you that He is in charge and that He is looking out for us.

Sooo…Be thankful!!! Life IS awesome! and filled with so much incredible things!

Finding Ruth

I am currently reading a commentary on Ruth by Iain M. Duguid, it has been really interesting and challenging so far.

One of these challenges was to find the Ruths in our lives. Ruth was a foreigner, an outsider, a stranger. Our lives are filled with people like this, people that we don’t even notice because we are so busy, wrapped up in our own worlds.

I challenged myself to go through one day, greeting and acknowledging people that I wouldn’t normally. I was surprised by the way that they responded to a ‘hello’ or even just a smile!

We, as people, need to be acknowledged. We like to know that we aren’t invisible, that we matter to someone.

This opened my eyes to others around me, whom I so often overlooked. I feel ashamed when I look back at the times I just walked by, ignoring them.

Be aware of others, don’t be so focused on your own little world, there are so many people around you that just need a smile from you.thJH8O4ZQO

Giving Your Time To God

I was reading Joshua 24:14,15 this morning, and it got me thinking about how I was living and how much of my life was being lived for God.

We have a choice to follow Christ, if we choose to, then it has to be whole-heartedly!

It is a fulltime commitment.

For me it is easy to give God my money, to tithe, but when it comes to giving my time…that’s a whole new story.

I am always moaning when I have to give up my precious time for someone else. God wants my all, this includes my time, which isn’t even mine to begin with.

God doesn’t only want the quick 10 minutes that I give Him in the morning, for my quiet time. No. He wants the whole day, every day. Whether we are at work, at university or at home, our time belongs to God.

How much time do you give to God? Is it only during your quiet time? Or is it in every moment of your day?

My Peace Comes From God

No one likes a Monday, but this Monday was longer and more tiring than usual. It left me feeling stressed and restless. After work that evening, I sat at my desk, thinking over the events of the day. I tried to bring myself out of this low space, but I couldn’t, I just got more anxious and frustrated.

I saw my Bible lying on my desk, and I remember that I hadn’t had my quite time with God that day. At first, I was like: “no. I don’t want to read or chat with God” because I wasn’t feeling up to it, But I made myself open it.

The very first sentence that I read struck me and was in my mind for the rest of the week. This is what I read: “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God.” John 14:1

I can’t explain to you how much I needed to hear that. I just sat there afterwards, praying, pouring out all my worries to God. It felt as if the world had been removed from my shoulders. All that stressed was replaced with peace, a peace that stuck with me for the whole week.

I feel like laughing as I look back…so much time wasted on worry when all I should have done was give it all to God from the start.
